Our Story

Hi! My name is Sofia Rivera and I am 11 years old. Ever since I can remember, I have wanted to be a baker and own my own bakery. Because of this, my mom and dad asked me if I wanted to start my own business earlier this year (2023) selling cakes and cookies at local farmers markets and of course I said yes!

My mom and dad got to work helping me set up Sofia’s Sweet Cakes, LLC, setting up a business banking account, the Square payment system, and figuring out the cost of ingredients. My mom and I decided on delicious recipes to bake up and the cost of ingredients. My older brother Ethan is going to help me bake and with setting up and selling at the markets. My grandfather, Jose Camps has his own virtual Bookkeeping business, so he gladly offered to help me with my business bookkeeping! My goal is to make enough money to be able to buy my own car when I turn 16 so that I can take advantage of the Dual Enrollment Culinary program at Daytona State College before I graduate high school. Once I graduate, I would like to attend a culinary school so I can continue to learn the baking and business skills I will need to own my own bakery in the future, Sweet Cakes Bakery! Any additional money I make will help me with some of my college expenses.
